Our Connection to the Land
Watching my 90 year old Grandfather check in on our harvest progress has been staple for the past 20 years. When the dust is flying behind the combines, be assured that Gramp’s Ford will make a few slow passes along the road, and eventually pull into the field.
It usually comes with some version of “Wow, you guys get a lot done!” or “Holy cow, amazing crops”.
It always comes with a giant smile, and an obvious increase in his 'life-force'.
You can take the boy out of Saskatchewan, but you can’t take Saskatchewan out of the boy.
There is something about our human connection to the land that energizes us. Those of us blessed enough to get to live in the country love the smells and sounds of a harvest.
Urban dwellers, now’s a great time to pack a sandwich, and take a drive on our gravel roads. Stop for a picnic and watch some crops come off the field. The rural air will calm your soul and renew your connection to your food.
Now that's a peak ethos.
