We salute you!

Fifty aircraft flew from around Alberta last weekend for the Vegreville Flying Club’s annual ‘fly-in breakfast’. The weather was perfect for flying, allowing hundreds of people to enjoy an outstanding meal and a plethora of aircraft.
It takes hundreds of hours, hard working volunteers, and motivated leaders to make events like this possible. Whether a sports tournament, a fundraiser, or a breakfast, bringing people together to connect and celebrate requires coordination, planning, and a whole lot of elbow grease.
Those of us who have had the responsibility of spearheading an event gain an appreciation of how much effort is required ‘behind the scenes’, and carries with us a future understanding that events don’t just happen ‘out of thin air’.
It tends to consistently be a small, wonderful group of volunteers that ends up making so many community events happen, and often without any desire for accolades.
To those workhorses that give their time and energy into building experiences that the rest of the world gets to enjoy; we salute you!
Now that’s a peak ethos.
