Jetboat Churchcamp

My closest friends and I keep a religious schedule around our 8:30 Sunday morning virtual ‘church’ service. These 30 minutes are often the best laughs of the week, a place where the world seems to make sense, and I have only missed five in five years. The group commitment to church is pretty amazing and the boys find a way to beam in from all over the continent.
Bi-annually we host ‘church camp’. This IRL (in real life) meetup historically takes place in Canmore, but this year, a jet boat and the North Saskatchewan River, provided the catalyst for our first ‘Northern Churchcamp’.
It was clear that even a week before our launch date, it was a scheduling challenge with six families pulling different directions with the demands of summer, yet miraculously it came together like destiny.
Five hours of shirtless jet-boating was about as close as we’ve come to walking on water, and it was clear that although it was just one day, it was exactly what the doctor ordered.
Heads throbbing from laughter.
The taste of the summer sun,
The exploration of a river, hidden from daily eyes,
Camaraderie.
When you’ve found your tribe, you must do the hard work to connect.
Finding the time to maintain these connections is nearly impossible in this modern world, especially when spread across the province. Buy some matching shirts, put some ink on your calendar, and drop your anchor.
Now that’s a peak ethos.
