It’s going to be a great day!

“Tomorrow is going to be an amazing day!”, is by far my favorite line that Olive often repeats just before falling asleep at night.
Despite having heard this line from her countless times, I’m still often drawn in, and find myself asking,
“Why, what’s happening tomorrow?”
Sometimes the reply is special, like a field trip or a sleepover, but the majority of the time it is simply a ‘regular’ day. I find these nighttime proclamations of optimism, both inspiring and contagious.
Bringing excitement to each day requires effort.
Effort to get up at the 4:45 alarm.
Effort to force myself into the cold shower.
Effort to exercise before the day begins.
And a whole lot of effort to focus on all the great things in life,
even through the drudgery of the daily grind.
Yesterday, as I left one of my best days in months, I thought a lot about Olive, and her mantra. It seemed that most of what made my day excellent, was the energy, attitude and perspective that I brought with me, and less about the external forces acting upon me.
Choosing to have an amazing day is the first step to getting there, and announcing your intent to the world is a great way to start.
Now that’s a peak ethos.
