Farm Fresh

The month of May brought green grass, the hope of another exciting crop year, and most importantly the return of free range, farm fresh eggs.

Each spring my sister’s family buys laying hens and these twenty five birds keep our families nourished with fresh brown eggs all summer long.

As someone who consumes three eggs each day, the spongy and tasteless ‘store bought’ eggs had become almost a chore to eat.

When I finally got my hands on our first fresh ‘Bodnarchuck’ egg of the season, I was blown away.

Yolks bright as a sunny day and rich in flavour… you could almost taste the happiness of the bird that laid it.

So yummy!

These chickens get rotated through fresh grass and earth each day, consuming all of nature’s goodness. Great inputs yield great output.

Agriculture in its purest form.

As you get closer to the source, the food is healthier and it tastes so damn good.
