Doing the work
Olive was giddy with excitement after being successfully chosen for a solo role in the school Christmas concert. She also expressed some sadness for a few of her friends who were not chosen for parts.
Knowing that Olive practiced for many hours before the audition, I asked her
“Did your friends practice the lines?”
To which she responded “no, they just read off the sheets…”
The formula for success in life is simple:
Show up consistently, and do the work.
You need hundreds of reps to build muscle,
Your fingertips need to build calluses to learn guitar and,
you need to memorize the lines in order to get the role.
Do the work,
Embrace feedback as a chance to grow,
And keep showing up…
Now that’s a peak ethos
