Decision Paralysis
On a recent trip to Calgary my family and I stayed in a downtown condo for our last mini-vacation of the summer.
Olive and Hazel, who are used to a very sheltered life on our farm, were quite startled by the plethora of marauding homeless people shuffling the streets of Calgary.
It was particularly mind numbing to witness droves of ‘street campers’ openly smoking Meth, in broad daylight, mere feet from operating store fronts. The girls were concerned by one figure who stood bent at the hips blocking street traffic for minutes in a position we learned is colloquially called ‘the fentanyl fold’.
The problem of homelessness is like many other social issues, with no clear solution. The fear of offending anyone seems to paralyze officials from making any decisions at all.
At all levels of leadership, from government officials, to business operators, there is a call to action for courageous decision makers.
Take a stand on issues that are important, our world needs you.
Now that’s a peak ethos.
