Born to build

Hazel and I put an especially large item on our Christmas lists this year and after a lot of prayer and some marginal behaviour, Santa brought our family a 3D printer.
I had been ruminating about a world where the girls and I could dream, create, and iterate bringing imagination to life. A few hours of YouTube ‘research’ made it plainly clear that 3D printing had evolved to a ridiculously advanced state, and it was time to explore.
Post-Christmas, it turns out that our printer-time is in high demand, with Olive, Hazel, Mom, and Dad, all calling ‘dibs’ on the next print.
Although the unified enthusiasm was a surprise, as it is usually just Hazel and I who ‘nerd-out’, the optimism has been energizing. We have turned into a household of creators.
The human instinct to create is obvious when observing the fun projects lining the walls of bedrooms, or workshops, and now in the colourful plastic fidget toys lining our counters.
We’re only 40 hours of print time in, but the creative juices are flowing faster than ever.
Born to build.
Now that’s a peak ethos.
