IRL
I had a serious case of FOMO (fear of missing out) as I looked at the pictures of Karina and Hazel at the Tofield corn maze. Hours of activities, ice cream, and most importantly organized corn. The camera roll told the tale of a day well lived, and time well spent.
This contrasted greatly with the slow moving pedestrian that was being led in a trance like fashion with a cell phone in her hand, oblivious to the world, and the traffic waiting patiently for her to cross the street. The digital image on the tiny screen was powerful enough to erase the gorgeous fall day surrounding us.
There is a world around us brimming with untapped, exploration and experiences.
It takes a bit of effort, maybe a couple bucks for admission, and best of all may require you to leave your phone at the door.
Lasting memories are made in real life (IRL), carry with us in perpetuity, and pay dividends each time we recall them in the future.
Now that’s a peak ethos.
